Setelah sampai di perkebunan, pemain akan bertemu dengan Peri Harvest dan Dewi Harvest, yang akan menanyakan apakah pemuda itu mau mengambil alih perkebunan itu dan membantu mengembangkannya. Dewi Harvest akan mengajukan 3 buah pertanyaan dan semua pertanyaan itu harus dijawab dengan baik, karena akan menentukan tingkat keberhasilan pemain itu selanjutnya.
Area pedesaan itu akan dijadikan tempat permainan dan hiburan, sehingga tujuan dari game ini adalah mencari penyelesaian dari suatu permasalahan (selanjutnya disebut ending) sebelum tahun itu berakhir. Ada 9 ending yang harus diselesaikan.
Perbedaan mencolok dengan seri Harvest Moon sebelumnya adalah tidak adanya pernikahan pada game ini. Pemain dituntut untuk bersahabat dengan penduduk desa lainnya dalam 1 tahun untuk menyelesaikan salah satu ending.
